Shipboard Self-Defense System (SSDS)
Intelligent ship self-defense

Shipboard Self-Defense System (SSDS) is a family of systems designed for use in future Navy ship combat systems such as DD(X) destroyers. Ship sensors and weapon systems are connected by a fiber optic Local Area Network (LAN) and inputs from different sensors form a composite track for target tracking and quick-reaction capability.

Incorporating LynxOS and COTS hardware, SSDS employs radar systems with anti-air weapons, both hardkill (missile systems and rapid-fire gun systems) and softkill (decoys). Paving the way for Navy OA compliance, SSDS links and automates standalone sensor and engagement systems for aircraft carriers and amphibious warfare ships to satisfy the concept of full-dimensional ship protection.
